I have been involved with Fortress as a church member and volunteer since I was 12 years old. My family was very active in Fortress while it was still a church, and continued to be a part of its ministry as it transitioned into YDC. In fact, when FLC was in its first year (2005), I was invited to be a Student Mentor in its pilot program.
I joined Fortress' staff in the fall of 2010. After spending a year as the Reading Lab Facilitator and this past summer as Summer Director, I'm thrilled to continue my work at Fortress in the new role of Volunteer Coordinator.
I'm a proud Fort Worth native. I graduated from Paschal High School and am now getting my basics out of the way at Tarrant County College. Some of my favorite things include my cat Ashlie, brightly colored Sharpies, the Beatles and Dr. Pepper. I really enjoy roadtripping to visit my friends who live out of town, and one of my favorite parts of being Summer Director was getting to drive all around Texas for recruiting events. I've been blessed with an awesome family, especially my two little brothers who are almost as outrageous and silly as I am.
My passion for the kids we serve at Fortress has been strongly influenced by my three summers spent working at Camp of the Hills in Marble Falls, TX. My experiences there have equipped me with knowledge and the God-given fire to reach out to the youth at Fortress. Some of the most joyous moments in my life have been seeing that light spark up in the eyes of the children I've worked with at camp and at Fortress; there is no more rewarding thing than to see them succeed. I'm so excited to see the powerful changes that take place this year as God reclaims his children.
"I am still confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord." Psalm 27:13-14
