I’m Shanique Delese Johnson and I am 20 years old. I grew up on the east side of Fort Worth. My goal is to go back to school for Early Childhood Education. 

When I first found out about Fortress, it was back in 2008 though Texas Youth Summer Workforce. That program is mainly to help teens find a job in the DFW area. I didn’t have a clue what I was getting myself into. I had no idea I was going to be working with children, but as you can see I did an amazing job so the great people at Fortress decided to keep me. Ever since then I have been working with Building Blocks & also working With Pre K & Kindergarten in Fortress Literacy Center.

Fortress has changed my life so much. This place has helped me understand the value of life and also let me know that not only the kids but each of us is “A Child of God With Ability To Achieve Our Dreams”. I can honestly say Fortress is the best thing that has happened to me. Fortress is way more then a job to me, it is actually my life. I have come closer to God; I have so much faith in the kids and myself. I have learned a lot since I've been at Fortress. I am so blessed to be at a place like this.
